Like drunk little kids running around waving a magic wand…
…so too, many of us go about creating this, and that, and the other - we’ll come back to that.
Mostly unaware of what exactly we’re doing, and how it actually works.
Ah, the games we play…
The status game, the love me game, the make me feel important game, the I’m not worthy or deserving game… the I don’t have enough game, the it doesn’t matter game. The power games, the powerless games.
There are lots of games to be played. And, “uh, it’s just like my opinion man… Playing with consciousness is the coolest game. The act of psychological alchemy…
You want something, something to be different. Something more, something better, something faster… something different.
And when you get it, that still doesn’t do it… fill that hole. Maybe for a bit, a short while… fleeting though, idn’t it?
We’re wired for more, better, faster, and different…
Reconciling this appears to be a chore for some.
Many can’t seem to handle it (holding the idea of both being totally ok as they are and having the internal sensations of wanting more, better, faster, different, and being pulled to improve themselves and/or their life in some way and thus feel like somethings wrong or that something is missing)…
So far as they state that even the act of “wanting” in itself is a bad thing, not the way to be, others perpetuate the fallacy that wanting is itself the reason you feel unsatisfied, unfulfilled, depressed… that you should not want, or have, while others hoard and no matter how much they get, it’s never enough.
There’s no filling that hole with anything outside of you…
Playing With Consciousness (PWC)
Introduction Issue 1 of 3.
Bass solo, take one (early Metallica ref… don’t worry if it doesn’t make sense… go with it).
*Warning (more like a heads up) riddles, mind puzzles, and some shit that may not make sense at first… plus relevant song lyrics dropped in here and there - the googles is your friend.
Speaking of dropping in…
You are Source, having an experience as an individual, for the sake of experiencing yourself.
Dude, it’s a game. Tag, you’re it.
Perspective is everything.
This experience… life…
What’s it all about?
Why are you here?
What’s the point of it?
Is there a purpose to this experience you’re having?
If so, what is it? Who decided that?
How come you don’t know?
Why are you, you?
What’s going on?
What’s this “game” for?
“IT” appears that it’s one or the other…
Top-down - Consciousness is the thing that everything springs forth from, resides within, and is possible thereof.
(This is what the great spiritual teachings have stated for millennia…)Bottom-up - Consciousness is the pinnacle emergent property of enough complexity. What the other end of the spectrum has posited since the pondering of this question has been occurring.
There are other ideas as to what it is, and most of those can be tucked neatly into the previous two.
Who are you to say which it is?
Maybe that doesn’t matter.
Maybe it does…
If it does:
It would only matter to you, inside your own little world. It would only matter to the extent that what you believe works for you according to how you believe it.
Still, either of these possible ways “it” is, arrives you to the same conclusion. Consciousness IS the thing. The point, the reason, the “what is important.” Everything else is a derivative.
And as central to the entirety of experience consciousness is, we, really smart monkeys have yet to fully understand what it even is, how it works, where it comes from, and so on. So difficult it has been to try and understand it or explain it, test it, prove it… that it has been monikered “The hard problem.”
Maybe that’s just it. It, Consciousness is outside all that there is, all that we can comprehend… it’s beyond what can be understood by man. Seems there is another “thing” ascribed to this definition… God. Maybe what the great spiritual teachings call God is what we think of as consciousness. It does seem to fit the bill for all the use cases, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent… we’ll come back to that.
Maybe it’s nothing, perhaps it (consciousness) is an idea, a term, and a definition that we made up that isn’t/doesn’t have any place in the explanation of it all, and all this and our perception of it are simply written into the code and our every thought, feeling, and deed are all metered out before you were even conceived.
You can believe whatever you want. And to the extent you believe it, it’s true.
It doesn’t matter what you believe, except that what you believe will work for or against you according to how you believe it.
However, there’s a difference between “The Truth” and “a truth.”
Yet, they function for you and your experience of whatever this is, (almost) exactly the same way.
It is what it is. And, it will be what you make it. Because it is what you think it is. You’re “IT” Dude.
Maybe. It’s just a perspective (simply a way to see it).
Maybe, it could be about how you see it. Maybe your perspective is the foundation upon which your game is played… and plays out.
Your perspective is moldable and changeable. Not set in stone.
You can choose your perspective. We don’t just acquire them along the way… though, that happens too if we’re not paying attention.
If you chose, what could it look like? How good could you stand it?
It is what it is.
Next week… It will be what you make it.
